Good Form Studio's founder, Rachael Ward has developed a highly effective programme of physio-led Pilates designed to help clients build strength and move freely and functionally.
Good Form Studio's Pilates is taught by Rachael and her colleague Katie Isle in small groups, with exercises tailored to suit each member. Our classes are friendly and enjoyable with options for people of all ages and levels of experience.
Our Pilates classes are designed to help people enjoy the best movement available to them. Whether you’re looking for exercise to compliment your sports or fitness training, or a way to recover quickly from injury and stay well, we’ll provide the treatment, knowledge and skills you need.
Inspired by her time working in Australia and New Zealand, where physio is viewed as an accessible routine service, Rachael wanted to create a positive studio environment where clients feel supported and encouraged to manage their own bodies.
Good Form Studio regulars learn how to use Pilates as a long-term lifestyle tool that can offer a sustainable solution and reduce the need for repeated physio treatments.
Rachael’s aim is to make Good Form Pilates classes enjoyable, so that clients want to make them part of their routine. Small groups of no more than seven mean that Good Formers build genuine relationships with the teaching staff and each other – making it easy to form good habits and stay well.
Katie was inspired to become a Pilates instructor because of the positive impact Pilates had on her own wellbeing. Her background in teaching is clear from her relaxed and friendly classes which she tailors to challenge and suit each participant.
The aim of the first session is to get a full picture of your lifestyle and why you want to have physiotherapy. Whether you have an injury that has resulted in a need for treatment or a more long-lasting condition, Rachael will ask plenty of questions and assess your movement so she can build an understanding of your condition and your needs and expectations.
During your first session she will also begin treatment and agree a treatment plan with you. Our aim is to get you back to doing the things that matter to you with less pain and more freedom.
Evidence-based physiotherapy promises open and thoughtful clinical decision making. This means providing patient care that emphasises the use of the best available research evidence to guide the treatment we provide. At Good Form Physiotherapy we draw on in-depth clinical experience combined with the most relevant and up-to-date scientific information available.
Our practice always honours the client’s preferences and values and considers the way that each individual’s day-to-day life will influence the practicality and success of the physical therapy we provide.
A standard treatment lasts around 45 minutes. During this time there will be a short discussion so that Rachael can assess your progress and any changes to your condition.
Pilates is a low impact form of exercise that concentrates on strengthening the body, with an emphasis on core strength and alignment.
We believe it’s a brilliant addition to every lifestyle, because it’s a flexible form of exercise that can be tailored to suit each of us.
Pilates will help you to improve your posture and the way you move and use your body throughout your day-to-day life, whether you’re playing sport, performing daily tasks, lifting your toddler or suitcase or sitting at a desk. Pilates is a great way to learn how to move well, improving your body’s efficiency and helping you to prevent injury and improve strength, balance and flexibility.
Pilates is also great for well-being – at Good Form Studios we focus on learning the right way for you so that you feel better after every session. You’ll find yourself moving more freely, breathing better and developing lovely long, toned muscles. Come and join us on the mat and give it a go.
Pilates is an ideal form of exercise to help with rehabilitation from an injury. In each Good Form Studios session we will give options designed to help members find the right level and option for their body at that moment.
If you’d like some advice before you get started, just contact us for a chat. For those that want a more tailored rehab programme, we offer one-to-one assessments and detailed Pilates prescriptions to help you begin your practice with confidence.
